This is the OE fuel filter manufactured by Racor for the 6.6L Duramax used in the 2001-2006 GM pickups. Because of their superior design, filtration, and water separation abilities, Racor filters earn the right to be installed as "original equipment". Aftermarket filters don't have the same durability, water separation abilities, contaminant filtration capacity, they don't provide engine damage warranty if they fail, and are frequently more expensive. That's why aftermarket filters are not installed as original equipment.
